Being Yourself

Underneath and behind every experience, thought, sensation, and idea is a calm, abiding presence. Experiencing this Self happens naturally when we stop and rest. This month, we will turn our attention toward what happens when we stop, how we may - or may not - experience this Self, and slowly develop a deeper relationship with this calm, abiding presence.

Discerning Self from Identity (2 September)

It is easy to be confused about who we are and believe that we are defined solely by our experiences. When we can discern the difference between our experience and that which is experiencing it, we can open to an infinite place of refuge and rest.

Experiencing Self (9 September)

When we rest, we naturally uncover the part of us that is experiencing, without being in the experience itself. We will rest in this together, reflect on how we experience this Self, and share and explore this together as a group.

Restful Self & Rest (23 September)

When we slow down and get quiet, our body relaxes, and our mind can begin to slow down. When we rest, we feel calmer and more able to cope. So, is it enough to simply rest, or might we accelerate and deepen these outcomes by exploring Self as part of rest? We will explore whether all of this can simply be put down to the act of stopping, or if knowing one’s Self as part of rest may influence these naturally occurring experiences.

Living Between Two Selves (30 September)

As we come to know this quiet watchfulness, we may wonder - how can these two parts of me co-exist? We’ll break down some ideas about what it is to know our ‘Self’ and how we can move more seamlessly between these two aspects of our experience.
