Not Knowing

There’s so much to know, understand and figure out. Our minds are relentless in their thirst for knowledge and desire for certainty. How can we challenge this need to have it all worked out? Is it possible that we don’t know or understand nearly as much as we think? What are the mind’s limits, and how might we go beyond them?

Session 1: Out Of The Loop (15 March)

What would it be like to shift from the everyday-all-day chatter of the mind toward a sense of deep embodied presence? Explore approaches that take us away from being caught up in recursive loops of thought and give rise to a quietening and uncoupling from our stories and beliefs.

Watch the full zoom recording, or pick from the practices or talk to listen individually.

The Book I mention is ‘Thinking Fast And Slow’ by Daniel Khaneman.

Session 2: Mindful (22 March)

By learning to ‘simply sit’ without expectation, idea, or advancement a natural quality of timeless presence reveals itself. Explore how this presence supports a more healthy relationship with what we think and believe. Experience new perspective and insight through becoming the observer of thoughts.

Session 3: Innocence (29 March)

What would it be like to give up knowing? To leave all the thinking and figuring out alone to see what arose in its place? Take a posture of innocence, leaving the mind alone and letting go of the need to work things out.

Session 4: Not Knowing (5 April)

Have you ever put yourself in check-mate before? Challenge your beliefs through the practice of opposites and unravel from certainty with one simple, repetitive affirmation: ‘I don’t know’.
