Rest, Reset and Restore: Day Retreat At Haremore Farm, Oxfordshire

Rest, Reset & Restore

Float into your innermost calm

Join world-leading yoga nidra teacher and author of the Book of Rest James Reeves for a day of guided deep rest and yoga nidra meditations, allowing you to effortlessly slip into a state of deep presence and tranquility.

These events are suitable for everyone – no previous knowledge or experience is required.

Why 'rest'?

Rest is such a simple and vital aspect of our lives, and yet in today’s fast-paced world it’s not something very many of us take the time to do, or even take very seriously. We may be getting more done, and taking in more information than ever before, but as a result, we’ve lost the natural pauses in our lives. We don’t ever stop. Inevitably, our nervous systems are frenzied, running on empty, and desperate for a break.

Meditation, yoga, and mindfulness practices can lead us down the pathway to rest, where we find our innermost calm. However, the danger is as we engage with various techniques we might get caught up in the processes, methods and our envisioned goals for learning them. Rather than falling into rest, we fire ourselves into rest-disguised recreation.

What's involved?

On these rest day-retreats you will be asked to ‘do’ very little and instead allow yourself to be gently guided into a state of deep rest, and you’ll come to understand how you can do this for yourself at home.

We’ll experiment with gentle though powerful movement and breathing enquiries, and explore the subject of rest more fully in discussions, such as what exactly is rest, and why is it so important. How is it different to meditation? How is it different to sleep? Where does yoga nidra fit in with all this?

What people say:

“It amazes me how even your energizing classes are calming and deeply grounding, how you can turn simple yoga poses into deep dives into our being, how you make the prana vayus and yoga philosophy so accessible and practical. You are truly an amazing teacher and your voice is so soothing that it truly seems like you were born to be a yoga nidra facilitator; even listening to your audio book felt like a relaxation.” – Sarah Maar

“I reached ‘that place’. That place between the breath in meditation, that place that only you could try and describe, that wonderful, wonderful place. It only took me about 10 minutes to get there. It’s truly amazing to me that after the amount of time (and money) I have spent trying to stop the ‘mental chatter’ that I now have a method that I really enjoy. I can’t believe the simplicity and beauty of the method.” – Daniel Morris

“Thank you for the session, it was just what I didn’t know I needed!” – Lawrie Minty
